Educating our youth: “Lifestyle Skills Presentations"
As you already, know both Sr Marion Steenkamp and Sr Marian Bryant are Health, Wellness and Lifestyle Change Educators. They are passionate about promoting the "healthy lifestyle philosophy" by educating students on practical ways of changing their unhealthy way of living to a more “healthy lifestyle” that is fun and easy to sustain. A healthy lifestyle leads to a healthy attitude, belief and choice.
Their research has shown that many of the adult clients that visit their wellness clinic have poor eating habits that started back in their childhood days. Therefore proactive education of school going age students may prevent the early onset of preventable diseases like obesity, diabetes, hypertension, leading to premature death.”
At the moment, M&M is presenting their Healthy Lifestyle Choices to Grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 classes as well as teachers at Woodlands International College, Kathstan College, Willowmoore High, St Catherine’s Convent, Excelsior Academy, St Dunstan’s and Dr. E G Jansen.
Included with their presentation is their healthy choice information pack. It includes healthy ideas and alternatives to make for breakfast, and school lunch boxes that are more exciting and delicious, a time management planner, lifestyle questionnaire, how to handle positive and negative emotions and a certificate of attendance to add to the students’ portfolio.
“Today’s healthy students are our healthy workforce of tomorrow”
It is not only the youth who have access to this service but corporate companies, clubs, societies, etc as well. For more information, call us on 011 918 8287.
