Having lived with a weight issue all of my life, often being ridiculed, as well as having a family history of cardiac disease, hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol, and numerous attempts with many diet clubs, I began to realize that a healthy lifestyle was much more than just calorie control. My weight issue was found to be associated with major food allergies and intolerances. That was when my interest in nutrition and holistic wellness principles to a healthier lifestyle developed.

The best analogy about “common sense health” that made sense to me was my garden hosepipe. Imagine if you attached a hosepipe to a garden tap and I hold the nozzle ready to water the flowers. You switch on the water but no water comes out the nozzle. When you turn around, you notice a huge boulder squashing the pipe in the middle. No amount of adjustment to the nozzle will make the water flow. Turning up the water pressure at the tap will just make the hose explode off the tap but still no flow. The only way water will flow is by moving the boulder. Before you turn on the tap again you must check the hosepipe for any damage like a hole or damage to the lining. Once fixed properly, then the watering process can begin once more. To keep the flow constant and controlled, you have to make sure nothing blocks the flow again.

Your body works the same way. You will not bloom if your supply of water [nutrients] is not of a good quality, and the boulder [lifestyle diseases] is not controlled, maintained or prevented. The boulder will not disappear by covering it with pills, lotions and potions but good sound advice on how to take back control of your life, to make you appreciate that life is worth living when you are healthy and full of fun will.
